Nigeria's ancient artefact of Ife kingdom in Osun State, a terracotta made in the form of a head was delivered back to Nigeria from the Netherlands.
Nigeria's minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed received the artefact from the kingdom of Netherlands Ambassador to Nigeria, Harry Van Dijk on Thursday.
The Minister thanked Netherland for their effort to return Nigeria's antiquity that was taken away for over 600 years.
"It gives me profound joy to receive this very important antiquity, an Ife Terracotta, which is dated to be at least 600 years old. I am even more delighted that our efforts at pursuing the return of Nigerian antiquities, which we launched last November, have started yielding fruits,” he said.
The country will generate more income if cultural properties are acknowledged on a proper agreement terms. But this is not possible as most museums describe them as their properties.
